USU Preschool 2011

Maecee is my 3rd and obviously last child that has attended the Utah State Lab. She got in as an infant/toddler, then never got in for the 2 year old lab so I thought we were done. Well I got "the call" that she had a spot in the 3 year old lab and then 4 year old. I already had her registered in a different preschool but you don't sign your child up for Utah State at birth and then tell them no---right? So her schedule was: (I'm writing this down now because I want to remember what a weirdo I am/was because I won't remember it for long)

M-Ms Jennys 9:30-11:30

T-Gymnastics 9:00-11:00, Utah State 12:30-3:00

W-Ms Jennys 9:30-11:30, Utah State 12:30-3:00

Th-Gymnastics 9:00-11:00, Utah State 12:30-3:00

F-Ms. Jennys 9:30-11:30, Utah State 12:30-3:00

Needless to say, Maecee had a lot going on and there were definately times I just let her stay home because of her crazy schedule. So now for summertime. USU said she could go to "summer school", but I decided we needed a break before heading into the big Kindergarten year. She will still be going to gymnastics two times per week which should work out perfect.

It's no wonder why I feel like I should get a Taxi sticker for my car. This was just one of my kids schedules!

Banging pots and pans

We (well I should probably just say I) stayed up PAST Midnight! Wahoo! Our friends Steve and Kelly invited us up to a cabin they were staying in for New Years Eve. Of course we jumped at the chance to spend time with our goood friends that we never get to see and the cabin was a gem in itself. HUGE! Maecee kept begging me for weeks to go back to that cabin with the trampoline in the basement.

This was a quick, last minute trip that couldn't have been any better. They invited us to come up to the cabin instead of them coming to Logan for dinner. Steve's family had rented it out and gave them an extra night for free. So we brought snacks, fireworks, new years stuff, games and movies.

Mostly I loved just getting caught up with these friends. We met them when Brett and I were first married and living in Blackhawk. It's so funny because Brett and I were called to be sunbeam teachers and Steve and Kelly also were called because there were so many little kids in that ward. What an awesome calling that is when you don't have any kids. I look back now and think about how clueless I was about some of the things I brought for them to "color" with. Markers, stamps, play dough, things that may be considered not appropriate for their age. I was always surprised at how much they loved those markers (now I know why!). So we would talk to Steve and Kelly and I was always jelous of their class because it had these 3 adorable little girls that I really wanted to teach, but Kelly got them!!! I can't even remember how we "hooked" up but we would do stuff with them all the time. I have some GREAT, FUNNY memories of our times together. We also got to share the experience of having our first babies together. They moved away (sad) but we have still tried to get together whenever we can, which is never enough.

Hopefully we will be able to continue on our tradition of hanging out. To many more years Steve, Kelly and Family. We love you guys and thanks again!

Broken Foot

Oh McKenna Mac! The date is December 23rd. Kenna is racing to get out the door to go to the Aggie Game. She walks down the garage steps, trips on Brett's boot, twists her foot, and breaks her foot in 3 places! She comes inside freaking out, puts some ice on it, takes some ibuprofen and begs to go to the Aggie game.

Well the next day there is not really much bruising but a bump on the side of her foot. Brett told me he thought it was broken. I will admit I was in denial. We took her to CVSH to get some X-rays (because Hillary works there). The radiologist said it was broken in 3 spots. One really close to her growth plate. So they gave her a walking boot and told us to go to a Specialist. Well Christmas came and about 5 days passed until we could get into a Specialist. He saw us after hours and put her in a cast (above picture). We immediately started to stress out because she Kenna's first meet was about 3 weeks away. She had just gotten all her skills down really well and was going to have an awesome season. **Sigh***

The doctor of course said it would probably be 6-8 weeks. Well that doctor sure was surprised when a week later we showed back up at his office. McKenna was having serious pain in her foot. He took a look at her cast, asked us when it was we saw him last. We said it had been almost 7 days. His mouth dropped. He said McKenna had broken right through her cast (funny thing was she had been almost completly off it for about 2 days). He redid her whole cast and gave her VERY strict instructions to be back on her crutches, stay off it as much as possible, only walk when necessary! Anyone who knows McKenna is not surprised that she wore through it so fast.

So she moved from the first white cast, to a second blue one, on to a big boot and then a brace. She also was able to do about 3 meets. She did so good considering she couldn't work out at all when she was recovering. Her first meet she was so tired, she barely made it through her floor routine. She was huffing and puffing at the end.

So far her foot has been good. Although I will admit, whenever she hits her foot or flinchs I freak out. No more broken bones please McKenna. 3 is enough so far!

Thanksgiving 2010

Jim and Tiff are so great to have us all at their house on Thanksgiving. There house is a perfect place for the young and old :) We chatted, ate, played, watched sports, played basketball (make sure to look at Grandpa Mac's awesome outfit), and some of the cute girls planned their shopping adventure for the day after Thanksgiving sales. I decided not to go this year. It's pretty sad when a trip like that knocks me out so bad, but it does. There was nothing I was really "dying" to get and besides I always overbuy when I go. It was so hard to watch them plan their trip and know I was going to miss out on the action (those crazies shopped ALL NIGHT LONG). Sleep won the war in the end. Brett was sweet. He knows how much I love going, but knows how hard it is for me to recover, so he told me he would take me shopping wherever I wanted to go with him. Sweet guy!

I really have some catching up to do on my blog. I love blogging, but when I get this behind it seems like such a daunting task to keep on going. This is such a great way for me to not only preserve our family memories but to also let friends a family know what's going on it our life. The problem is I take sooooo many pictures. Trying to decide what gets on "the blog" is a somewhat painful process. I will try to suck it up and keep on truckin'. School will be out this week and then my head really will be spinning. Here it goes......

Winner, Winner....

I entered a drawing on Design Mom (www.designmom.com) and won a $50 Gift Certificate for anything at The Vintage Pearl (www.thevintagepearl.com) Now if I knew how to "link" you to those two by just clicking on the name instead of what I had to type I would. But, I don't know how and am too lazy to figure it out.

I just felt like I should give a shout out to those two places in "payment" for me winning. I picked the above necklace (of course with different names on it). It was a hard decision because there was so many great choices, but in the end that one had special meaning for me. I always do that I love you sign to my kiddies.

So go check the website out. Put it on a wish list and give it to your hubby. Oh and check out the Peas in a Pod necklace. I was going to order that one to but decided not to. I would have done the 3 "peas" and then added a charm from the A la carte menu.

I will hopefully get caught up all our doings sometime here soon.
